It is about 8 inches long. It works really well, but it won't fit in a purse like I had hoped. The handle is white plastic, not metal like it looked (to me) in the photo. Works just about as well as the rollers with sticky paper on them, which saves me money! However, the bristles are just the right stiffness to brush off dust, dirt, and dandruff from my winter wool and corduroy pants, suit coats, and barn coat without doing damage. It can also brush off food stains in many cases. I don't think I would try using this on any silk ties or other delicate material, but it is great for wool and cotton. Regular use has reduced the frequency of having to send clothes to the dry cleaner... in that regard, the brush paid for itself quickly. In summary, it meets the needs that I bought it for in full. My only complaint is about the short length of the handle (needs to be another inch longer) and the somewhat uncomfortable feel in the hand. I guess that is to be expected, since this is sold as the "original" Fuller clothes brush and the company dates back to 1906.
